Ygritte is a fictional character from George R.R Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire, and a main character in its TV adaptation, Game of Thrones. She was a wildling woman from Beyond the Wall who was a member of the Free Folk, as well as a spearwife. She eventually became the captive of Jon Snow, and later his star-crossed lover.
Ygritte first appeared in A Clash of Kings, the second book in the A Song of Ice and Fire series, and later returned in the live action and television adaptation, Game of Thrones, appear in its second season in the sixth episode titled “The Old Gods and the New.”
In the television series, Ygritte was portrayed by Scottish actress, Rose Leslie, who eventually married her co-star Kit Harrington (who played Jon Snow) in 2018.
