"I may know about a lot of things, but friendship isn't really one of them. And I'm definitely not going to learn more about it by being alone all the time."

  • Twilight Sparkle (Sci-Twi)

Twilight Sparkle's human counterpart, also known as Sci-Twi, is one of the main characters of the Equestria Girls film series, serving as a mentioned character of the first movie, a cameo character of Rainbow Rocks, the deuteragonist/climax antagonist of The Friendship Games, the main protagonist in The Legend of Everfree, and one of the seven main protagonists of the rest of the series.

She also serves as one of six major characters in Forgotten Friendship, one of the five tritagonists of Rollercoaster of Friendship, one of the two deuteragonists (alongside Sunset) of Spring Breakdown, the deuteragonist of Sunset's Backstage Pass, and one of the seven main protagonists of Holidays Unwrapped.

Personality[]

Like her pony counterpart, human Twilight is well-spoken and highly intelligent. She holds a great interest in knowledge and science, being able to assemble intricate scientific devices and solve complex mathematical equations, and her intellect rivals that of Sunset Shimmer. Unlike pony Twilight, however, human Twilight is socially similar to how she appears in the first episode. She is a bit of a wallflower, acting very awkward and timid around others, especially the standoffish students of Crystal Prep.

Despite her problems in socializing, Twilight is eager to connect with people on a personal level, demonstrated in her interactions with Fluttershy, when the two share their love for their pets, Applejack, whom she hugged for helping her in the Tri Event Relay, and Pinkie Pie, at the Crystal Prep welcoming party. Twilight is shown increasingly distressed by the apparent harm caused by her magic-sensing and storage device to the point where Sunset's eventual accusations leave her distraught.

Twilight lacks self-confidence when under extreme external (especially social) pressures. During the archery competition in the Tri-Event Relay in the Friendship Games, she is so affected by performance anxiety and Sour Sweet's anger at her poor aim that she begins to cry and her legs threaten to collapse under her.

When transformed into Midnight Sparkle, Twilight becomes selfish and malicious, consumed with desire to learn everything about magic even at the cost of her entire world. However, when Spike calls out to her, sad to see what she had become, her love for him briefly brings back her sanity. When brought back to normal, she retains her normal personality and regrets what she did, but feels better when Sunset reassures that she'll be forgiven.

In Legend of Everfree, Twilight is depicted as more self-assured than in Friendship Games, interacting with friends and classmates more openly after transferring schools. However, she is still somewhat socially awkward, and she exhibits an intense fear of her Midnight Sparkle alter ego. Her fears do not seem to be completely unfounded, as Midnight Sparkle does appear to attempt to control her when she attempts to embrace her magic.

Physical appearance[]

Human Twilight's design differs slightly from her pony counterpart in that she has thick black glasses, her hair is tied up into a bun, and the pink highlight in her hair is wider than the pink highlight in pony Twilight's mane. Since My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Legend of Everfree onward, she wears her hair in a ponytail as opposed to a bun.

From Dance Magic to the EG Summertime shorts, she previously wore a blue blouse with short sleeves, a dark pink vest with a matching bow tie, a purple belt with a white buckle, a purple skirt with slightly lighter purple stars, her pony counterpart's cutie mark and a lighter purple frill at the hem, sky-blue knee-high socks, and purple Mary Jane shoes with a belt and a decorative badge.

In Equestria Girls Better together, she currently wears a sky-blue polo shirt with purple stripes, a white collar, a pink bow, a purple pocket skirt with her pony counterpart's cutie mark, white sparkles, short sky-blue socks, and indigo leather heeled shoes with pink laces.

In summertime shorts and Forgotten Friendship when swimming, she wears a one-piece swimsuit with a magenta star, with the top being sky blue striped like her shirt, the bottom being indigo with six magenta dots, and magenta sandals.

When in her Friendship Power formation, she has a light blue regalia with pink stars, and wears a sky-blue tank shirt with matching brims and the same cutie mark on the chest, a pink belt with translucent blue frills, a purple skirt, dark pink gorgets with pink stripes and a white star on them, magenta leggings, and dark gray knee-high boots with light gray stars.

Her sleepwear is a sky-blue shirt with white spots and a matching trim on the sleeves and collar, indigo sweatpants with a white lace on the top, and colorful six-pointed stars on it.

Combat characteristics[]

Signature moves[]

  • Magic Blast: Twilight shoot a magenta ball of energy at her victim.
  • Flipping Heel Kick: Twilight flips forward in a circular motion, bringing her feet over her head kicking the victim and then landing back on her feet.
  • Flying Punch: Twilight launches herself forward with a series of punches to the victim's face.
  • Carnival Spin: Twilight spins backward and kicks her opponent in an impossible fashion.

Finishing moves[]

  • Brutal Kicks: Twilight violently kicks her victim's stomach, lodging her foot in her victim's intestines. She keeps it there for a second before pulling it out, then kicks her victim's forehead, causing it to explode like a balloon. (Equestria Girls: Lethal Alliance)
  • Savage Beating: Twilight repeatedly strikes at the torso and head of her victim very quickly, and then stands, striking a pose. The confused victim then screams in pain a few seconds later and explodes in a shower of gore. This fatality seems to borrow from the Asian martial arts study of pressure-points.
  • Kick and Destroy: Twilight walks up to her weakened victim and with one swift uppercut, knocks her victim's head straight into the air. Twilight patiently waits for it to come back down before she kicks it hard at her victim. When the head strikes them, they explode into piles of blood and bones.

Trivia[]

  • Unlike her pony counterpart, she wears glasses and is not the leader.
