Tobias "Toby" Harrison Hendrix is a character from CupcakeSprinkles170's Heartstopper story.
Biography[]
Toby starts a new year at Truham Grammar School for Boys after his last secondary school burned down and he was outed for being gay and transgender while attending school there. For the first week, he was usually by himself, either in the library or art room. When Toby meets Ben, a Truham bully, he sees the good in him and his crush was too big to deny.
After some time, he makes friends with other Truham students: Nick Nelson, Charlie Spring, Tao Xu, Isaac Henderson, and Otis Smith.
Toby is the only South African student at Truham Grammar School for Boys.
Appearance[]
Toby has short black fluffy hair, light brown eyes, light freckles, and pale skin. When he isn't in his uniform, he wears blank colored hoodies. He also has a scar on his left knee from having a procedure when he fractured his knee from ballet practice when he was 13.
He is a bit shorter, standing at 5'4" and has a curvy pear feminine build.
Relationships[]
Ben Hope - Toby's boyfriend and also one of his best friends. There wasn't a great first impression between the two of them, but they slowly became friends.
Nick Nelson - A popular rugby student who is a close friend of Toby. Nick has a crush on Toby, but Toby doesn't see it.
Imogen Heaney - A secondary school student from Higgs who doesn't like Toby because he's dating Ben.
Elle Argent - A close friend of Toby who goes to Higgs. Elle is a trans girl.
Charlie Spring - One of Toby's best friends and emotional supporters.
Ryan Hendrix - Toby's older brother and also his closest best friend.
Harry Greene - A Truham student who is homophobic and transphobic towards Toby and is also the main bully at Truham.
Tara Jones - One of Toby's friends who goes to Higgs. Her girlfriend is Darcy.
Darcy Olsson - One of Toby's friends who goes to Higgs. Her girlfriend is Tara.
Tao Xu - One of Toby's close friends who is known as the "token straight" friend.
Lulu Sandile - Toby's best friend back in Cape Town. She is one of Toby's biggest supporters and she keeps in touch with him.
Otis Smith - One of Toby's classmates from maths class and a member of the rugby team.
Mental and physical health[]
As a result of Toby getting bullied by Harry Greene and his friends for his identity, he resorts to vaping to cope with stress and anxiety. As a result of that, he also resorts to self harm and covers his scars by wearing his hoodies. He fears that Ben would be disgusted by his body, including him menstruating and still having breasts.
At one of Harry's parties, Toby goes outside to vape and his friends try to get him to quit, but he doesn't listen. Toby knows Charlie is going through a similar patch, except the vaping is excluded.
