The Succubus was a demon-like creature, that consumed its victims in order to remain healthy and useful.
It is believed to have originated in Ireland, taking the identity of a seductive and beautiful red-headed girl.
Dudley[]
In September 1921, the Succubus travelled from its native Ireland, to stay with relatives in the Midlands town of Dudley. The family she stayed with were gypsies, suggesting that she too was from a gypsy background.
Upon her arrival in Dudley, she immediately began to feed off the local population.
The Succubus would sit alone at a local bar, until approached and engaged in conversation by a lone male. She would then seduce her suitor, accompanying him to his lodgings and then consuming her amorous victim.
Death[]
One of the victims of the Succubus during her time in Dudley was a local factory worker, named William Burt.
The monster had attracted Burt whilst sat alone in his local pub, The Fish.
But Burt had not been alone, and she was seen drinking with him by his friend and co-worker, Matthew Nolan.
When Burt later disappeared, Nolan pursued the Succubus, eventually locating her some weeks later lying in wait for a new victim.
Pretending to be seduced, Nolan had lured the monster back to his lodgings, intending to threaten her with a knife he had hidden there in an effort to discover Burt's fate.
When she then attacked him, having pushed him down into the bed, Nolan fatally stabbed her in the side of the head.
At the point of death, the Succubus temporarily returned to her beautiful state, before ageing and decaying rapidly into a skeletal frame.
It later became clear from the reaction of her family, that they had not known of the monster's secret life.
