The Sandman is the former tertiary villain of Spider-Man 3. He is a man who became mutated with sand by falling into a particle accelerator, giving him superhuman strength, speed, invulnerability, and elasticity. He is played by Thomas Haden Church. He is the only villain in the Spider-Man film series by Sam Raimi not to die.
