Obara, Nymeria, and Tyene Sand, also known as the Sand Snakes, are supporting characters in the A Song of Ice and Fire novel series and supporting antagonists in the TV series Game of Thrones. They are the three eldest of the eight Sand Snakes, the bastard daughters of Prince Oberyn Martell.
In the novels, they are fierce warriors who possess a code of honor as they are unwilling to harm innocent people, though their plots of exacting revenge on House Lannister, such as wanting to murder King Tommen I Baratheon, are seen as villainous. However, in the TV series, the Sand Snakes are depicted in a much darker and sinister manner than their novel counterparts, being villainous mercenaries with a love for unstoppable combat and murdering their victims and enemies.
