Rob Simmons is a character from Mighty Orbots. He is the creator of the Orbots and he also doubles as the Orbots' Commander whenever there is trouble afoot. He was voiced by Barry Gordon in the English dub and Yu Mizushima in the Japanese dub.
About Rob[]
Rob is an ingenious inventor and scientist responsible for creating the Orbots. He also goes undercover as a member of the Galactic Patrol and created the Orbots as a way to combat the threats to the galaxy made by Umbra, and to fend off Umbra's S.H.A.D.O.W. agents. Generally, he takes on the persona of a robotics engineer who is busy with his works in his lab complex somewhere on Earth. However, when duty calls, he switches to his alter-ego, the Orbots' Commander, via a transformation matrix, changing out of his omni-suit, which is his lab outfit, into the helmet and uniform donned by the Orbots' Commander. The other Galactic Patrol members know of Rob's alternate identity as the Orbots' Commander, including his love interest, Dia. Dia's father, Commander Rondu, knows that Rob and the Orbots' Commander are the same guy.
Rob summons his Orbots from their recharge chambers by way of a remote signal from a device he wears on his wrist. While in the role of the Orbots' Commander, he pilots an ultra-fast vehicle called the Beam Car, which also doubles as a command center when it enters the central core of Mighty Orbots' body. Rob/the Orbots' Commander and Ohno are paired in the beam car and co-pilot it for maximum use and effectiveness in battle.
Physical Appearance[]
Rob is a slim, young man with fair skin; curly, blond hair; and blue eyes. He wears aviator-style glasses with a brown frame and handles; a white lab coat with matching sneakers; a white undershirt; a red shirt with folded collar and a couple buttons below that; and blue pants.

As the Orbots' Commander, he wears a helmet that consists of a lavender gray, rigid, outer shell in the front; a white frame that includes face protection; gray, round, inner sun visor levers on the sides; the lower part of his helmet in the back is also white; and a clear visor or shield for the eyes. He wears a uniform that's mainly white, including a vest with a V-neck, gloves, pants, and boots. He also wears a jazzberry jam or electric purple shirt with the Galactic Patrol circular epaulette on each upper sleeve. The inside of each epaulette is white with an upside-down, red triangle and a navy blue line that's at a slope on the right of it.
Personality[]
Rob is mild-mannered, clever, righteous, and humble. As the Orbots' Commander, he has shown great leadership skills, making him charismatic as well.
