Ralph K. Merlin Jr. is a minor character from the Merrie Melodies short, "I Was a Teenage Thumb". He is a magician/wizard who grants Prunhilda's wish to have a child. He was voiced by Mel Blanc.
About Ralph[]
Ralph has magic powers, such as the ability to shape-shift, whether voluntarily or involuntarily. But in the case of doing so involuntarily, this occurs due to him having a hiccup problem. While passing through a forest, every time he hiccups, he turns into something else. However, his shapeshifting is imperfect, as his lower body remains the same. He turns into a dragon; a cow; a stroller; a redheaded, svelte lady in a pink dress; and a red hot rod. As a hot rod, he walks into the Thumbs' house, changing back to normal. Ralph then overhears Prunhilda lamenting about her wish to have a child of her own, even if he is thumb-sized. Ralph takes pity on her and grants her wish with a zap from his fingers shooting through a window, giving her the effect to make that possible. Now pleased, she smiles knowingly, telling her husband, George Ebenezer, that she thinks they're going to have a baby. Now that his work is done, Ralph leaves and continues down the path. Which each hiccup, he turns into various things again: An elephant, a bathtub, a troller, a giraffe, and a hot air balloon.
Physical Appearance[]
Ralph is a slim man with a slightly bent posture and a hump on his back. He has black eyes, no hair, and pale skin. He wears all blue: A wizard's hat with gold crescent moons and stars on it, a shirt with long sleeves and tights.
Personality[]
Ralph is benevolent and sympathetic. He seems to be at his happiest and most satisfied doing good for others.
