About Princess Mignonette[]
Princess Mignonette is without a mother and her dad is a widower. She is sad about this and that she's not with him. In another castle, the king is seated on a throne and is depressed. While Princess Mignonette is seated on a throne also, the governess tells her all about how the king has many soldiers and ministers. In the room where the princess and the governess are, there are 26 Persian cats. The governess tries to convince Princess Mignonette about how much happier she'll be, but the little girl just won't hear of it as she covers her ears, she kicks over some bowling pins, and demands to see her father. It's been mentioned the king can't see her, because he's too busy. Later that night, while in bed and seemingly asleep, she wakes up, decides she's going out to look for her dad, and gets up out of bed while taking a snack, and her cloud blanket, with her. As she sneaks out of her room, one of the Persian cats follows her. The cat surprises her by running between her legs, she lets him join her. As they look around a corner in the hallway, the princess has to pass the first test, which is getting passed a knight guarding a door. She urges the cat to distract the knight and motions him to go towards where the knight is. When the cat appears in front of the knight, the knight goes after him, following him into a basement, but falls downstairs, bouncing and bumping on his behind on the way to the bottom. Princess Mignonette is amused by this and seizes the opportunity to continue after passing the first test. She goes upstairs, exits through a door, and manages to free herself from it after her dress gets caught in it for a moment. Then, she walks through another hall and finds something else guarding another door: A large dog this time. Light shines out of the dog's eyes like high beams or headlights, he's hungry and seemingly wants to eat her. She's afraid, but then thinks of giving the dog the snack she has for him to feast on instead. The dog is quite pleased with his meal as he eats it, she pets him, then climbs on his back to reach the knob of the door. She looks through the key hole before pushing it open, she falls off the dog's back, and onto the floor. She passes the second test. When she exits the higher level of the castle and gets to the area where the battlements are, she is swarmed by flies or mosquitos. She uses her cloud blanket to swat them away. But there's a ditch and getting to the other side is too far with the wide gap between the castles. However, she gets the idea of using her cloud blanket as a bridge, stretching it across, hopping on it, and walking to get to the other end. Once she makes it, she rolls up her cloud blanket and puts it away in her satchel. She has passed the third test. After achieving her goal of reaching the other castle, she finds her dad and happily skips towards him. For a moment, her dad, still sad, seemingly doesn't recognize her. But then, he does and perks up and she jumps into his arms, and they embrace. The king snaps his fingers and a winged-horse then appears entering through a window and the two take a ride on the equine's back. They go for a night flight and reunited, the two plan to spend more timer together with each other.
