Princess Hypsipyle is a character from the Ulysses 31 episodes, "Rebellion on Lemnos". She is one of the women from the planet, Lemnos, who rebels against the men who had them build ships for the men of Lemnos and the shark men.

About Princess Hypsipyle[]

Princess Hypsipyle is found in her ship unconscious by Ulysses, Telemachus, Yumi, and Nono, who are flying by Saturn and they discover this on the Odyssey's monitor. Ulysses sends Telemachus and Nono out to help. The ship seems to be smoldering due to a fire, so a compartment of the Odyssey is opened to release the fire extinguishers to put out the fire. Nono slides down a stream of water coming out of a fire extinguisher and stops on the dome of the other ship, but it's just too hot. The ship is heading towards Saturn and before it can crash land on it, Ulysses opens another compartment that contains an extended, mechanical arm that captures the ship and the Odyssey carries it up and away to safety. Later, in the Odyssey, the ship's rider is resting in bed. When she comes to, she's alarmed to find Ulysses and the others in front of her. But Ulysses tells her not to fear as they're her friends. She introduces herself as Princess Hypsipyle and tells them she must get back to her ship. But Ulysses tells her it's destroyed. She explains to them that it's urgent that she must get back to Lemnos, her home planet. While Princess Hypsipyle is flying with Ulysses on the way there, leading to a flashback sequence, she explains that the women of Lemnos have been enslaved by the men who have them build spaceships. The women do all the work while the men never do a thing nor help. The spaceships are for a race of aliens called the shark men. Eventually, the women decide to quit, rebel, and turn against the men. An elderly woman of Lemnos tells Princess Hypsipyle to run off for help and she does. The guards try to stop her by firing their laser guns at her, but she manages to get in her ship and escape. Back in the present, Princess Hypsipyle also mentions that her father, King Tholas, has been held captive in a prison and, upset, she fears the worst. Ulysses tells her that he and his crew will help before they get to Lemnos, which has been destroyed. He asks the princess where they should land inconspicuously and she says between the base and the Triton factory is the area that is best. When they get there, they head to the factory and Princess Hypsipyle presses the button that opens the automatic, sliding doors. They enter it, but find it deserted as Princess Hypsipyle wonders where the others are.

The two then enter a room where the women are being kept, captive behind diagonal, laser bars. When one of them sees Princess Hypsipyle, she silently shushes her to stay quiet. The elderly woman is glad to see her, commenting that she managed to escape. Princess Hypsipyle tells her and the others that it's all thanks to Ulysses who saved her and he tells the women in one cell to stand back as he fires a laser at a switch on the floor that controls the laser bars, turning it off, making the laser bars disappear and setting the women free. The women run out of their cells excitedly. The elderly woman tries to get their attention, but they're in too much of a rush in their freedom to listen. Back in the Odyssey's control room, Telemachus, Yumi, and Nono notice a signal on a monitor indicating that Ulysses and Princess Hypsipyle are in trouble and they go off to come to their aid. The women continue to get to the exit, but the male guards block their path, pointing their laser guns at them. The eldery woman and a younger woman tell them the men can rule over Lemnos, but the women aren't staying any longer. Desperate to please the shark men, the men won't let that happen. Princess Hypsipyle and Ulysses arrive on an upper floor in the same room as the others. Ulysses tries to talk some sense into both sides, telling them that fighting each other won't get them anywhere and that both sides must work together to go against the shark men. But it's doubtful that the shark men can be defeated and the main guard orders to other guards to put Ulysses to work too with the women. The women charge at the men and the men begin to use their weapons, but Ulysses uses his own to knock out the laser gun from one guard's grasp. The men and women have a shootout, firing their laser guns at each other. Princess Hypsipyle goes to an open room where King Tholas is. Upon seeing each other again, they're very glad and hug each other. She tells him she'll explain all the details later. The men and women have a their standoff as Ulysses keeps attempting to get them to see the errors of their ways, asking them what the point is. The elderly woman tells him to move aside as he wouldn't understand and one of the younger women says that the men will understand once they get them. The main guard just laughs and tells the women that even if they left, they'll get some others to do the work instead. But the men are told that without the alternative help, they'll be left on their own. The shark men are on their way to Lemnos in their ships. Ulysses asks the men why they don't just resist the shark men. The main guard tells him that they must obey the shark men's orders for survival. As Princess Hypsipyle and her father listen to this and watch, she tells them she has a plan: They'll all just make their way to the factory where they can escape by way of jettisoning from it in a ship. The others like that plan and agree with it.

After the shark men enter the factory and they're tricked, everybody else makes a break for it. They run through a transparent tunnel and to the factory. Princess Hypsipyle gives the order to jettison the factory, but when Ulysses is informed that his son and friends are in the supply room, he goes off to get them while Princess Hypsipyle follows. Her father tries to stop her, but it's no use. Ulysses and Princess Hypsipyle find Telemachus, Yumi, and Nono in the supply room, freeing them from some restraints. But the shark men catch them. A few of the men of Lemnos, including Princess Hypsipyle's dad, are there too and both sides duel with each other while Princess Hypsipyle, Telemachus, Yumi, and Nono watch most of it. As this goes on, Princess Hypsipyle tells the latter three that they must take this chance to escape as it may be their last. King Tholas duels with the leader of the shark men, but he ends up being mortally injured in the battle. The shark men leader falls into a crevice and is killed in an explosion. This causes the other shark men to disappear. Princess Hypsipyle rushes to her dad's side. Before King Tholas passes away, Ulysses asks him the directions to Hades. He tells him that to get there, he has to pass through the desert and under the taratas. After King Tholas slips away, Princess Hypsipyle mourns him, but Ulysses tells her not to cry. The factory begins to shake and everyone runs to safety before it's jettisoned. The factory floats away in space, as Telemachus points out, and down towards Saturn before it's annihilated. Ulysses with his crew bid goodbye to Princess Hypsiplye and the other people of Lemnos as the former group fly away in the Odyssey. Now that the Lemnos inhabiitants' freedom has been gained, Ulysses comments on how from now on, both genders will be able to live together in peace.
