History[]

The TV series and the character's name was inspired by David Cantolla, one of the creators, when he heard his daughter's nightly prayers, saying "Eres niña poco yo," which is translated to "You're a child little me," instead of saying "Eres niña como yo," which is translated to "You're a child like me."

The word "Pocoyó" could be roughly translated as 'little me', 'not much me', and 'a little bit me'. According to Google Translate, the word "Pocoyó" is translated as 'little boy'.

The pilot episode was made before Pocoyo starts airing in 2004.

In Spain, Pocoyo began to air on January 7th, 2005. It aired the series' first episode, Umbrella, Umbrella, marking the birth of the legendary kids TV series.

In the UK, Pocoyo began to air in the channel CITV, on 2007, 2 years after Pocoyo began to air.

Today, Pocoyo consists of 2 series, 4 seasons, and 104 episodes.
