Osha is a fictional character from George R.R Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire, as well as a supporting and significant character from its television adaptation, Game of Thrones. She is a wildling spearwife from Beyond the Wall who fell allegiance to the Free Folk and their king, Mance Rayder. Shortly after finding out about the White Walker’s return, she and a band of Wildiings fled and managed to make it to Winterfell, where she became a servant to House Stark and protector of Rickon and Bran Stark.
Osha first appears in A Game of Thrones as a minor character. Little to nothing is known about her in the books overall.
In the TV series, Osha first appeared in the first season, during the episode “A Golden Crown”. In the show, it is learned that Osha intends to go as far south as possible to avoid the future war against the Army of the Dead after her husband was killed by a White Walker. She eventually becomes the bond and sworn protector of Bran and Rickon Stark, and attempts to escort them to their bastard brother, Jon Snow. However, after meeting Jojen and Meera Reed, their plans change and Bran plans to go Beyond the Wall to find the Three-Eyed Raven. Worried, Osha disagrees and later comes to a compromise and agrees to seek refuge and escort Rickon Stark to Last Hearth with the Umbers. She eventually does so, and the head of House Umber dies, and Smalljon betrays the Starks by giving Ramsay Bolton, the proclaimed Warden of the North, Osha and Rickon.
