Mr. Duffy is a character from the short, Hanna-Barbera TV pilot, Duffy's Dozen. He is the husband of Mrs. Duffy and they are the adoptive parents of twelve children. He was voiced by John Stephenson.
About Mr. Duffy[]
In the opening sequence, Mr. Duffy and Mrs. Duffy are introduced along with their twelve, adopted kids, and an old English sheepdog dog named Thirteen. It is mentioned how challenging it is for a large family to share a camper as their home and are seen doing things like waiting their turns to take showers and sleeping in the camper. They go traveling the U.S. and visit the country's various landmarks.
While visiting Yellowstone Park, Mr. Duffy and the rest of the family are having corns on the cob for lunch. When the plate of corn cobs is passed over and almost everyone takes a cob, there isn't one left for the youngest adopted son, Jiro. Jiro asks where his is and Mr. Duffy simply jokes, "Termites", before he and Mrs. Duffy have a hearty laugh. It's evident and revealed that a bear ate one of the corn cobs after entering the Duffys' camper, due to oldest adopted son, Alan, feeding the ursine a cookie. The bear has one of its claws stuck in Mr. Duffy's bowling ball, as Mr. Duffy points out that it has his ball. Mrs. Duffy tells him to let it go, but because he cherishes it so much as his prized possession as he won it in a faculty meet and it has sentimental value to him, he goes after the bear anyway. Mrs. Duffy tells one of the other, adopted sons, Corky, to get the park ranger while the other kids follow her. After the other family members arrive with the park ranger, Mrs. Duffy tries once again to tell Mr. Duffy to leave the bowling ball. But he says he'll do so after he retrieves it. He tries to pry the ball from the sleeping bear who clutches it. But this doesn't deter Mr. Duffy as he remains determined. The bear flings him from one side of it to the other. The park ranger fires a tranquilizer dart into Mr. Duffy and he ends up dozing off next to the bear. The Duffys are riding in their camper while Mr. Duffy continues sleeping it off while clutching his bowling ball and Mrs. Duffy drives.
