Moth is a character from the Columbia Cartoons/Color Rhapsody short, "Little Moth's Big Flame". She is a pre-adolescent moth who is lured into the flame's home, only to suffer the consequences for it. She was voiced by Leone Le Doux.

About Moth[]

The moth is outside a window flying when the flame inside the building gets her attention. When she notices she's been spotted, she runs off to the side and hides behind the window frame for a moment. The flame calls for her again. She reappears as she sticks out her head and she blushes coyly as her whole head turns red before turning back to its normal color, and she bats her eyes. The flame invites her into his home, asking if she'd like to come inside and she nods in affirmation. Taking out a powderpuff, she pats the powder on her face for a moment before entering through a gas lamp. When she arrives, the flame chases after her while she screams in panic. After catching up to her, he then offers her to sit on a pillow on one end of a long couch, but she chooses to sit far from him on the other end instead. He pushes a button on his side of the couch and it's activated by contracting, bringing the moth closer to him. He also offers her cigarettes and wine, but the moth declines accepting both of those and, having second thoughts, decides to leave, insisting she must get back home as her mother is waiting for her to return. She begins to head up the stairway when the flame produces a violin, which is made of flame, and plays it. The moth is drawn back to him upon hearing the music and can't resist doing a sultry bellydance to it. While she flirtatiously dances and spins around the room, the flame continues playing to distract her. She's so into the music, dancing, and feeling so attractive, she fails to see the flame sneak up on her and touch her wings, setting them ablaze. At that point, she stops and is saddened as she cries and the flame laughs at her cruelly. The next morning, she comes back home to a farm as she remains dispirited. A couple of adult, female moths see her and one whispers to the other that the girl moth's wings are burnt. The moth announces that she's back as her mother asks if that's her. When the moth arrives at the entrance, she collapses. As her father asks where she's been all this time and he, and his wife, see her, they come out of their home, rush to her aid, and comfort her. Her father asks who did this to her and she simply replies, "The flame!". He repeats what she said, but quizzically, and other adult, male moths do the same as they appear and hear about this. The adult, male moths head to the flame's home to get revenge on him. After they take care of the flame, the girl moth is seen at home lain across and on her mother's lap as the former happily licks a lollipop while her mother mends her daughter's wings by knitting them. There's a framed message on the wall that mentions getting burned is what will happen if playing with fire. The kid moth seems to have learned her lesson.

Physical Appearance[]

The moth is a svelte insect who is partly teal green, particularly her antennae, the upper part of her head/face, arms, and torso. The lower part of her face, hands, legs, and much of her dorsal wings are very light lime green. The outlines of her wings are black with a matching spot high on each of them, in the front and back. Within the black outlines are half oval or curvy wave patterns. She has large, black eyes and silver eyelids. Her torso is a simulation of a leotard, though during the bellydance scenes, it appears as if she's wearing a double-slit dress. She wears black heels.

Personality[]

The moth is shy, innocent, vain, flirty, charming, intuitive, and wary.
