Millicent "Millie" Rose Larsen is a fictional character in the adult animated sitcom Red And Friends. She is voiced by and loosely based on series co-creator Nolan Splavec. Millie is one of the series' four central characters, along with her friends, Red McArthur, Shauna Krawly, and Aubrey Iverson. She debuted on television when Red And Friends first aired on February 20, 1997, after having first appeared in The Central Park Christmas shorts created by Splavec and Jennifer Howell in 1992 (Jesus vs. Frosty) and 1995 (Jesus vs. Santa).
Millie is an elementary school student who commonly has extraordinary experiences not typical of conventional small-town life in her hometown of South Park, Colorado. Millie is distinctive as one of the few Jewish children on the show, and because of this, she often feels like an outsider among the core group of characters. Her portrayal in this role is often dealt with satirically, and has elicited both praise and criticism from Jewish viewers. Millie is currently 9 years old.
Like other Red And Friends characters, Millie is animated by computer in a way to emulate the show's original method of cutout animation. She also appears in the 2003 full-length feature film Red And Friends: All Hell Breaks Loose as well as Red And Friends-related media and merchandise. While Howell and Splavec portray Millie as having common childlike tendencies, her dialogue is often intended to reflect stances and views on more adult-oriented issues, and has been cited in numerous publications by experts in the fields of politics, religion, popular culture, and philosophy.
Role in Red And Friends[]
Millie attends South Park Elementary as part of Mr. Garrison's class. During the show's first 58 episodes, Millie and the other students were in the third grade following which they have been in the fourth grade. Millie lives in South Park, Colorado with her father Bradley, her mother Jenny, her older sister Sarah, and her little sister Flora.
Millie is modeled after Splavec, while Red is modeled after Howell. Millie and Red are best friends and their relationship, which is supposed to reflect the real-life friendship between Splavec and Howell. The two do have their disagreements, but always reconcile without any long-term damage to their friendship.
