Marigold is a character from the Wondrous Myths & Legends episode, "The Golden Touch of King Midas". She is the daughter of King Midas. When siblings Nick, Lisa, and their dog, Zeus, get transported to ancient Greece, they meet and befriend her. Later, after King Midas is granted the Golden Touch, using his power to turn various things into gold, that is exactly what he does unintentionally to his daughter.

About Marigold[]

Marigold and her father, King Midas, are on their way back to their home when she asks him if he'll go with her on a picnic later. He tells her he can't due to being too busy and that one of their servants can join her instead. But this doesn't satisfy her as she'd rather spend time with her dad and she thinks he cares more about his gold coins than he does about her. When they get to the vault where the gold coins and other valuables are kept, King Midas opens it. After checking inside to see if everything is still in there, he is satisfied. His obsession with gold still displeases Marigold. But he reminds her it's the gold that has allowed them to afford her gowns, jewelry, and school. After they hear something break (Lisa accidentally knocking over some pottery), King Midas tells Marigold they'll split up as they investigate to find the source. Marigold walks and runs onto a hill made of gold coins. She has a look around and as she turns to her left, she spots Lisa, Nick, and Zeus. Lisa, in shock of getting caught, gasps, then nudges her brother who's still busy gathering the coins. He also gasps in shock when he looks up to see Marigold. Marigold's dad asks if she found anyone. To cover for them, she pretends she didn't find anyone, telling him nobody is in the vault, keeping their secret, which pleases them. She points the exit to the teens and their dog, signaling, and allowing them their chance to escape without being seen by King Midas, and they take advantage, running out of there. As King Midas heads to where Marigold is, she slides down the gold coin hill to the bottom. She reminds him of the picnic. He asks her if she did her geometry homework. She says no and he tells her no picnic for them, and she leaves. King Midas comments about all the gold he has, but it's still not enough.

After a couple guards of the vault named Brakus and Markus catch Nick, Lisa, and Zeus for raiding the vault and informing King Midas about it, the king orders them to send the three to jail. While Lisa tries to find another exit, the cell door opens and it's Marigold. She tells them how glad she is to find new friends as she was looking for some, but not those who are thieves. Lisa denies that she and her brother stole anything from the vault. Marigold tells them that's a good thing, since no one steals from King Midas. Lisa is shocked to hear this as she begins to ask if that really was King Midas while covering her mouth. Marigold asks where they're from, Nick struggles to explain that they're from the Rocky Mountains. Marigold, thinking she's being mocked, tells him not to do that as a lot of places have rocky mountains. Lisa tells her they're from a place called Denver and that Nick got kicked in the head by a mule, which is why he said what he said. Marigold introduces herself and the siblings introduce themselves to each other, befriending each other. Nick begins to tell Marigold that she, and her father, are involved in a legend. Lisa simply says, "There's that mule thing again". Marigold has an idea to have the siblings set free.

When King Midas tells a servant of his to send his daughter to the room where he is, the servant leaves while Marigold comes running and jumps onto her dad's lap, causing a scale with gold coins to be knocked off a table onto the floor. King Midas asks if this is about the picnic. Marigold denies it, telling him that Lisa and Nick didn't commit theft and convinces him to let them be released in exchange for them accompanying her on the picnic. The servant whispers to King Midas that it would be a good idea as if it's proven otherwise they did take anything, that would give them more reason to punish. King Midas agrees and allows Marigold to take her new friends on a picnic. At the picnic, Nick does a cartwheel on a small hill near a river and Zeus runs down it, beside him. Marigold and Lisa watch while laughing at this. Later, Brakus and Markus alert King Midas that they captured Nick again after the king finds some gold has gone missing from the vault. Brakus and Markus explained to him that it must've been the kids, due to being so amicable towards Marigold, but it's Brakus and Markus who are the real thieves. King Midas asks where the others are and is told they escaped into the woods. After receiving the Golden Touch from a half-man, half-bull named Selanus, who was disguised as the servant from earlier, King Midas asks Nick what he has to say for himself for committing the theft and getting his daughter mixed up in this. As he touches Nick, Nick is turned into gold and becomes inanimate. Brakus and Markus are shocked at the sight of this. King Midas orders the guards to search for Lisa and Zeus to have them rearrested, and to have Marigold returned to him.

After dark, Lisa, Marigold, and Zeus return. Marigold tells Lisa they'll climb up a trellis to an upstairs window and she'll explain everything. As Lisa says, "okay", she turns and notices what happened to Nick. Saddened by this, she embraces him and asks what he did this time. Marigold tells her it's just a statue, but Lisa says it's really her brother who was changed into gold. Lisa, having been hesitant before, tries to explain to Marigold that she and her dad have to do with a legend. Marigold, finding this farfetched, refuses to believe it and thinks Lisa is just fabricating. Lisa denies this, telling her it's true. Marigold says she has to see this for herself. Watching from outside the dining room, Lisa and Marigold watch King Midas continue to use the Golden Touch, turning a plate, a chair he sits on, and even a drumstick he tries to eat into gold. Marigold is surprised and tells Lisa she has to try to put a stop to this. As Marigold runs off, Lisa tries to warn her not to do that. When Marigold approaches her dad, he also tries to warn her, but once she makes contact with him, she, too, is turned into gold. This saddens King Midas and he instantly misses his daughter as she was, animate and normal. As Lisa comes out of hiding, she tells him about how he has to do with a legend. King Midas wants his daughter back to her previous self.

Outside, Brakus and Markus keep stealing the gold coins along with the golden Nick and Marigold. After King Midas is informed by Lisa about what's really going on, they, Zeus, and another guard head out to where the duo are. After they're confronted and identified as the real thieves, Brakus and Markus run for it, releasing the golden Marigold who is caught by her dad and the golden Nick is released and tilts, falling to the ground as Lisa goes towards him. After Brakus and Markus are apprehended, King Midas punishes them by using the Golden Touch on them, turning them into gold. When Selanus reappears, King Midas asks him if there's a way to get his daughter back to the way she was. Selanus presents King Midas with a vase containing a special kind of water that undoes the curse. King Midas pours that on his hands and with a touch of that, Marigold is no longer made of gold and is animate again. They're very happy to see each other and embrace. As they begin to go off together, Lisa asks King Midas if he'd also use the water on Nick to return him to his original state as well. King Midas grants her request and Nick is also no longer made of gold, and is alive again. Nick, remembering what he was doing before his gold transformation, tells Lisa to run as he'll fight off the guards and protect her, making boxing motions. Lisa tells him everything is alright now and that she'll explain everything to him later. Marigold wants to invite her new friends to live with her and her dad at the palace, and asks him if they may do that. Lisa tells her they have to return home to Denver and they return to the way they got to ancient Greece: Through a portal that appeared in the vault.

Having relinquished his gold, King Midas's vault is now empty. Marigold wants to give Lisa a going-away present: Her gold choker necklace. Lisa hesitates to take it, as she tells Marigold it's too beautiful. But Marigold still wants her to have it anyway and is thanked for it. King Midas realizes that wealth isn't everything and that his daughter is the most important thing that really matters. As Lisa, Nick, and Zeus exit the portal, King Midas and Marigold watch. After the three return to the Cave of Mythos, they see that a drawing on a cave wall of Marigold now has appeared alongside the drawing of her father.
