Ma Scarecrow is a character from the Merrie Melodies short, "I'd Love to Take Orders from You". She is the wife of Pa Scarecrow and mother of Junior Scarecrow.
About Ma Scarecrow[]
Ma Scarecrow greets Pa with a kiss when he arrives home. She asks him how his day went and he tells her it went great, as he "scared ten crows today". Each of the family members then sings the song that shares the same title as the short. Each of them also mentions what they're going to do, and she sings, "I'll cook the stew". Using a scare chart and banging on the pot to use as a substitute for ringing a bell, Pa guides Junior through the scaring poses. Despite Junior not getting them quite right and the pot being banged every time, Ma still gives her son a round of applause. Pa then hands Junior to Ma so he can have his dinner and Junior is put off to bed. As silhouettes shown through a window shade, Ma prepares Junior for bed as she changes him out of his clothes and into his nightgown. As she leaves his room, she tells him, "Sleep tight, Junior", turns off the light switch, and closes the door. The next morning, Junior sneaks out of the house to try out his scare tactics while Ma and Pa are still sleeping in their bedroom.
Later that night, Ma is knitting while Junior tells a tall tale about his day of scaring a crow. When Junior sees a shadow of what seems to e a large crow, he is so frightened, he jumps into his mom's lap and arms for comfort. But it's just Pa forming his hands to simulate a crow's head as a prank.
Physical Appearance[]
Ma is a live, svelte, anthropomorphic scarecrow. She is beige with brown hair worn in a bun behind her head and has black eyes. She wears a sheen green shawl, white gloves, an ankle-length, blue dress with an orange-ish red patch in the lower front, and orange-ish red shoes.
Personality[]
Ma is wifely, motherly, loving, and nurturing. She is quite proud of her son, Junior.
