Character[]
Lutz was the second protagonist in the 2009 romantic docu-comedy Bruno. He was the assistant of Austrian fashion show host Brüno Gehard. He speaks German primarily, with very little English.
We see him at the very start of the film helping Bruno with his "nutrition plan" (purging), where he has a very obvious crush on Bruno. Bruno however mentions that he can never remember his name.
Later, when Bruno is leaving for America after having been blacklisted from fashion week and dumped by his boyfriend , Lutz shows up and offers to go with him to L.A. Bruno again does not remember his name, but does express concern that Lutz will masturbate over him as he sleeps. They travel to the States where Lutz dedicates himself to helping Bruno become an American celebrity.
Throughout the film Lutz's dedication and devotion to Bruno are very obvious, despite the poor treatment from the would-be diva. In one of Bruno's failed attempts to become famous he adopts an African baby, whom he names "OJ". Lutz books the two of them on a talk show, but the child is taken from his custody after Bruno reveals he swapped him with his mother for an iPod.
After this incident Bruno becomes depressed and attempts to commit suicide by overloading on carbs. Lutz carries him back to the hotel on his back, Bruno admitting that "I'm only mean to you because I like you." They wind up having sex, which Bruno immediately regrets the next morning.
Lutz admits that he is in love with him, but Bruno rejects him, saying that he is far too good to date a "Plain-Jane assistant" like Lutz. This causes Lutz to abandon Bruno.
8 months later Lutz sees that Bruno has re-invented himself on yet another attempt at fame. This time as the moderately successful, and extremely homophobic cage-fight host "Straight Dave". Lutz attends a match, and as Bruno is pumping the crowd up with an anti-gay spiel, in which he refers to homosexuals as "f-----", Lutz heckles him shouting; "You're a f-----!" Bruno challenges him to get into the ring, which he does. As Bruno has Lutz pinned against the wall, their eyes lock and they share a passionate kiss. The crowd immediately turns on them, and as they continue to make out the audience begins to riot, shouting and throwing garbage and metal chairs into the ring.
Bruno returns to his normal self, and he and Lutz attempt to get married. However, due to a recent law-change in California, they cannot. They settle down together regardless, moving into their L.A. home, even managing to get OJ back.
