Lemguins are a species of penguin-like enemies found in one stage of Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! and two stages in Donkey Kong Land III. As such, they are considered one of the "rarer" enemies in the Donkey Kong Country series. In both games, Lemguins function like Bazzas and Swoopys, to the point where Lemguins are considered the land equivalent. Lemguin's name is a combination of "Lemming" and "Penguin".
Donkey Kong Country 3
In Donkey Kong Country 3, Lemguins can be found exclusively in one stage, which is named after them, Lemguin Lunge. Lemguin Lunge is found in K3, which could be considered the Lemguin's homeland (similar to actual penguins living in snowy areas). Dixie and Kiddy Kong had to dodge barrages of Lemguins as they lunged from their holes to slide down the snowy hills, trying to ram into the Kongs, hence the stage name. As with most enemies, jumping on a Lemguin while it's sliding down will defeat it, and considering how fast they respawn, they can be jumped on one after another repeatedly to get to the other side safely.
Donkey Kong Land III
In Donkey Kong Land III, Lemguins are found only in two stages, being found in twice as many stages as DKC3. Lemguins are found in Polar Pitfalls and Tundra Blunda, both snow themed stages. Here the attack patterns of Lemguins remain the same; they can also be beaten by the Kongs in the same manner, by being jumped on.
