Appearance in the series

Kaepora Gaebora (pronounced /ˈkeɪ.pɔə.ɹə ˈɡeɪ.bɔə.ɹə/, KAY-poar-ə GAY-boar-ə) is a recurring character in The Legend of Zelda series.

In ancient times, Rauru built the Temple of Time. Afterwards, he remained within the Temple of Light, only leaving the Sacred Realm as Kaepora Gaebora, his owl form. According to a Gossip Stone, he is rumored to be the reincarnation of an ancient Sage.

After Link defeats Gohma and leaves the Kokiri Forest, Kaepora Gaebora is found for the first time in the edge of the woods in Hyrule Field, where it directs Link to Hyrule Castle. Afterwards, it constantly appears before Link in various areas. Kaepora Gaebora can transport Link to various locations, including a secret entrance to a house in Kakariko Village where a Piece of Heart is located.

Heck, he even gave Link, as a child, advice at the outskirts of the Spirit Temple to deflect their attacks onto Koume and Kotake, which was proven super effective 7 years later.

He pretty much functions the same ways as he does in the game, though it wasn't quite revealed he was Rauru all along. However, it was quite a shock to the heroes as they found out, especially since it was the same hero who brought Zelda II and her Pokémon away from the Kanto region to Hyrule in order to avoid the lurking eyes of their dark stalker.

To Zelda II, he often reminds her of Noctowl.

By the time the Imprisonment War came to be, he was no more since his original persona, Rauru, passed as he was trying to protect Zelda at the Sanctuary. So, Mewtwo had to take his place. ]
