Iris is a character from the Video Smarts VHS tape, "Vowel Sounds". She is a waitress/cashier at the Vowel Village Diner on Vowel Island.
About Iris[]
Mr. Mayor introduces Iris in the segment that explains the long vowel sound of the letter I to Teaching Teddy. She greets the viewers and promotes the diner while saying some words that begin with the letter I, but have a long vowel sound and others that have that letter in the middle, but also still have that vowel sound, and items associated with those words that begin with the long I sound are shown. She says that on the island there are great ideas, like serving key lime pie with icing, piles of ice to people on bikes, and shirts that are ironed while they wait, all at a high price as she rings up a cash register. Following that, a female voice is heard explaining that the aforementioned I words like "ice" all share the long vowel sound and have that in common as those words are shown.

Iris is a female, svelte, anthropomorphic, light green, lower case, letter I with the dot or tittle for her detached head lacking a neck beneath it, the stem for her rectangular torso, arms, hands, and detached feet with no legs. She has short, red hair with side-swept bangs covering her right eye and the hair behind her head is also side-swept. She has blue eyes; wears pale pink lipstick; a fandango pink maid's headdress with a lace pink, asymmetrical shape in the center; a matching, wavy mini skirt with a lace pink, wavy, waist apron; and fandango pink Chelsea boots. She also has fandango, circular outlines for the holes where her arms stick out.
