Hoot the Owl is a supporting owl debuting in Super Mario 64, which can make Mario fly around.

This sleepy owl can carry Mario in the air, if Mario manages to grab Hoot. Hoot then flies high in the air. Afterwards, the player can choose where Hoot drops Mario off by letting go of the owl. It reappears in future games as well, such as the remake of Super Mario 64, Super Mario 64 DS.
