Homer Jay Simpson is a fictional character and one of the five main characters in the animated television series, The Simpsons . Voiced by Dan Castellaneta, he is the father of the Simpsons. Homer Simpson has a rather lazy and clumsy attribute on one hand, but also shows caring and loving attributes toward his family.
Homer Simpson currently works as a lower-level safety inspector at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant, in Sector 7G. Contrary to his achievements such as the Employee of the Month awards when working at the Power Plant, Homer often sleeps on the job, drinks Duff beer, as well as eats donuts when provided.
Outside of his work life, Homer Simpson spends a great deal of his time in Moe 's Tavern, alongside Barney , and his co-workers, Carl and Lenny , and the bartender. They often get drunk and decide to walk home to spend the morning with their family.
Back at home, Homer Simpson is often found sitting on his couch, and watching television while snacking on food and drinking Duff. He rarely does housework, and often finds himself procrastinating when doing work. During the Simpsons Movie , Homer is seen doing housework along with his son, Bart , but he doesn't do a good job. One particular task is to fix the sinkhole, in which he uses the kid's sandbox, following Maggie to block out the hole it makes on the sandbox.
