Hemlock Holmes is one of the main protagonists of The Dick Tracy Show, along with Joe Jitsu, Heap O'Calorie, and Go-Go Gomez. He is an anthropomorphic English bulldog who leads a squad of five police officers known as The Retouchables. He is named after Sherlock Holmes and his voice is modeled after the actor Cary Grant.

Hemlock Holmes is a short, fat, and white anthropomorphic English bulldog with a short, thin, and black tail. He does not wear any clothing except for a blue "Bobby" (British police) hat with a yellow star on it. He has a black nose, a cleft chin, and one protruding tooth.
Hemlock Holmes sometimes carries a club.
