Hakon is a major antagonist in Disney's Gargoyles. He was the leader of a Viking army that traveled to Scotland for plunder and invaded Castle Wyvern but one night he and his army were defeated by Gargoyle residents in the castle. He made an alliance with Castle Wyvern's Captain of the Guard to sack the castle on the next dawn. During the night after. He was responsible for destroying most of the Wyvern Gargoyles which was against the Captain's wishes after he informed him that they will not follow if they left them be.
Unfortunately for him, six survivors of the Wyvern clan tracked his men down, and attacked them, freeing the prisoners. The Captain angrilly reminded him of his foolishness that they wouldn't come if he hadn't ignorantly destroyed the other. Hakon was then faced by Goliath, at the edge of a cliff. Goliath wanted revenge for the murder of members of his clan. Terrified, Hakon tried to incriminate the Captain for his crime, which caused the Captain to angrily grapple with him. They fell from the cliff to their deaths.
But this was not the end of that tyrant. His and the Captain's souls were bound to the earthly plane by the magical power of a monolith in a cavern nearby that had served as the lair of the Archmage in 984 AD. The Captain and Hakon hated one another but decided they hated Goliath more for causing their deaths. They waited 1001 years for Goliath to return, gaining mystical power from the monolith in order to be revived by transfering Goliath's life-force from himself to Hakon and the Captain, making Goliath a ghost and Hakon and the Captain fully alive once more. However, the Captain proved unwilling to betray Goliath again. He revealed and confessed that never hated Goliath for years but actually hated himself for betraying him and now has a chance to atone by foiling Hakon's scheme., saving Goliath's life and winning freedom for the Captain's ghost. Hakon was trapped in the cave once again, this time on his own.
Hakon did not stay imprisoned in the cave for long. He reached and allied with his descendant, Wolf, a Pack member who was mutated into a werewolf-like mutant, to Wyvern. There he linked to a Viking battle-axe in the cave, which Wolf then took to New York City. The two of them attacked Goliath and Hudson there, hoping to destroy them at last in conjunction, but the two gargoyles won in the end, and destroyed Hakon's axe, banishing him from this world forever. Thus, all the members of Goliath's clan have been avenged.
