Ginny Carter is a fictional character and the main character in Danielle Steel's novel, Blue. A former rising star in TV news, Ginny Carter's career was shattered after an incident on the freeway, which shaped her life. Carter then meets a thirteen year old, Blue Williams, and together they form an unusual bond and become the family they each lost.

Role in Blue

Carter was sent from the small village near Luena to Malanje, located in Angola, by the SOS Human Rights (SOS/HR). Usually, Carter's assignments were two or three months long, however, her assignment to Africa was four months, which was longer than expected, and was arriving in New York on December 22.
