George the Stegosaur is a character from the CBS Storybreak episode, "The Shy Stegosaurus of Cricket Creek", which is based on the book of the same title. He is discovered by two kids and siblings named Joan, and Joey who befriend him, and plays a part in helping take down three bank robbers. He was voiced by Hal Smith.

Aout George[]

One day, Joan and Joey unanticipatedly meet a live, talking stegosaur after they go horseback riding and they encounter a rattlesnake. Before the rattler can attack them, the two are saved when the dinosaur comes to their aid by swiping the snake aside and away with his tail. Although the kids are stupefied and can hardly believe the fact they came across an existing dinosaur who can speak at first, the stegosaur tells them they should thank him, which they do for rescuing them. Normally, he doesn't reveal himself to others and when asked why he did to these kids, he explains that no one else was around and he just decided to make an exception for them. Joey still finds it farfetched that dinosaurs can talk, but the stegosaur asks him if he'd ever seen and heard any other dinosaurs talk besides him, since he's living proof. Joan and Joey make friends with him, and learn that he is the last dinosaur in existence. He's suffering from a toothache, so to ease the pain, Joan gives him something chewy, which is bubblegum for him to nibble. The stegosaur says he would rather not be revealed to the rest of the world, so the siblings promise to keep his existence a secret. When the kids learn that the stegosaur is nameless, Joan is the one who christens him George on the spur of the moment, settling on that after she, and Joey, suggest a couple other names. George likes that, believing that suits him best. When he sees a car approaching on a road, he's concerned he'll be spotted, but Joan rides on her horse to cross the road as a distraction before she and Joey head into town to shop at the general store.

Later, it's found that George has a fear of pterodactyls. When an airplane flies overhead, he mistakes that for one, but Joan tells him it's really just an airplane. Later, Joan and Joey learn about a few men pulling off a bank robbery. While Joey goes off for help, Joan stays behind with George. George has the special ability to hide himself via camouflage. When the robbers approach, he blends in with the color of a rock formation. While Joan talks to George and she doesn't get an answer, she's unaware the robbers find her alone, catch her spying on them, confront her, and attempt to abduct her. When George notices his newfound friend in trouble, he musters his courage and saves the day once again by sideswiping the plane in which the robbers try to escape. Unbeknownst to them, he's the cause behind this.

Once the robbers are apprehended, the police, and Joan, and Joey's dad, arrive at the scene. The kids' dad finds a stegosaur tooth, which George spat out and it's stuck to a gum wad he left behind. When the kids meet up with George once more, he tells them he's forced to move away from Cricket Creek to keep from being discovered by everyone else. They say their goodbyes to him and Joan gives hm a going away gift: A box of more bubblegum sticks. Once they bid their farewells to him, he departs into the sunset.
