Donkey Kong is a fictional character who appears in the Mario series, as well as being the protagonist of the series of the same name. He debuted in 1981 in the eponymous video game (arcade and electronic game). Created by Shigeru Miyamoto, this gorilla is originally the enemy of Jumpman (who was later renamed Mario), his master whose fiancée he has kidnapped.

Donkey Kong then becomes, among other things thanks to Donkey Kong Country, a hero. His mission in Donkey Kong Country is, along with his best friend and sidekick, a nimble and fast little monkey named Diddy Kong, to retrieve their banana hoard from a big, cruel, dumb crocodile named King K. Rool. In the next game, little Dixie Kong takes over when Donkey Kong is kidnapped. She will then complete the mission with the help of her little cousin Kiddy Kong.

A 3D cartoon in his honor also allows the viewer to learn more about the secondary characters who animate the game: Donkey Kong's grandfather Cranky Kong, an old grumpy gorilla but nevertheless sympathetic with his many tips, Candy Kong, Donkey's girlfriend, Funky Kong, the rebellious gorilla always there with his plane or his board, not to mention Lanky, Tiny, Cranky and Chunky Kong who will help him during Donkey Kong 64.

Appearance[]

The design of Donkey Kong III analyzes him as a big monkey with huge mscles and wears a red tie monogrammed with two yellow letters, D and K, standing for his name.
