Darth Bane, born under the name Dessel, is a major antagonist in the Star Wars franchise, most notably serving as the titular protagonist of the Darth Bane Trilogy novels. He was the Sith'ari and the Dark Lord of the Sith responsible for creating the Rule of Two, which at only two Sith Lords can exist, with a master and an apprentice.
