Heroes whose main goal is to obtain more power, be it actual or political power. Unlike their villainous counterparts, they seek power for the sake of saving their homes and/or loved ones. However, their desire may end up causing them to fall into darkness.

Villains that would seek to rule with sheer force or whose main goal is to obtain more power, be it political power, superpowers, or magical powers.

NOTE: Pure Good can only qualify if their desire for power doesn't lead to selfish greed or if they want said power for a selfless purpose (i.e Goku, Buer). (please see Benevolent Rulers).
