~ Barako's catchphrase |
Barako Ogawa (小川薔薇子) is a minor character from the anime series Gate Keepers. She later becomes an agent and joins Japan's Far East branch of the organization, A.E.G.I.S.
Background[]
Not much is known about Barako, but based on her outfit, including her helmet cap and goggles, it can be speculated that she might had been some kind of racer prior to becoming an A.E.G.I.S. agent.
History[]
Most of Barako's appearances in this have been limited to being a running gag. Often, she's near the front of Tategami High School, whenever a sandstorm occurs due to the UP-15 causing that as it exits the hangar from the underground. This results in Barako having Marilyn Maneuver moments from a combination of the sandstorm and the UP-15 creating gusts, and giving updrafts to her dress. In one episode, a train passing through a station caused her skirt to get caught in an updraft. In another, the same thing happens to some female Tategami High students. Whenever occurring with Barako, she nearly always says her catchphrase, "Ooh, intense!" or "So intense!".
Near the end of the series, her last name is revealed and she, at last, has a brief but pivotal role. She becomes an A.E.G.I.S. agent herself and annihilates the Invaders with a bazooka. With this, she turns and says once more, "Ooh, intense!", before firing the bazooka. Keiko asks Tetsuya just who she is and he tells her he had Barako on standby for such an emergency.
Physical Appearance[]
Baruko is a svelte, adolescent girl with fair skin; short, dark brown hair; gray eyes; and wears red lipstick. She dons a white helmet cap with a matching strap; rectangular goggles around the helmet cap with white frames, dark lenses, and a black band; a yellow scarf; white gloves; a pale pink halter top with a scoop neckline; a fancy, white bow that hangs across the straps of her dress and on her shoulders; a rosewood pink belt with a gray buckle; a knee-length, pale pink flare skirt with a wavy, white line that surrounds it and is near the hem; and knee-high, white boots.
Trivia[]
In the twentieth episode, there is a figurine of Barako along with some other figurines in the display window of a shop.
