Agnes is a character from the Merrie Melodies short, "Nasty Quacks". She is Daffy's owner. She was voiced by Sara Berner.
About Agnes[]
Agnes, her father, and Daffy as a duckling are shown together next to one another, as the short begins. The narrator states that the father got the duckling, Daffy, as a pet for his daughter, then Agnes is shown sitting on her father's knee while he plays with her and Daffy is on her head. Months later, Daffy grows into a full-grown duck. Agnes, her father, and Daffy are having breakfast while Daffy tells jokes. Agnes doesn't mind so much and enjoys it, but her father does, as he is clearly annoyed by him, giving a serious look. After a knife-fight for the last piece of butter, they continue the fight upstairs until Daffy kicks him down the flight of stairs. After Daffy returns to the kitchen to resume his joke-telling, Agnes's father returns there too with an ax. Just as he's about to chop up Daffy, Agnes gets between them, protecting Daffy and tells off her dad as she talks rapidly, hugs Daffy for a moment, and finishes scolding her dad. As Daffy gets back to telling jokes once again, Agnes is amused by this and tells him he's so funny.
After Agnes's dad dashes out of the house for a moment, then returns, he approaches Agnes, who's playing with some blocks. He tells her he has a new present for her, which is a new duckling to replace Daffy. Agnes is overjoyed and talks about how much she loves her new duckling, shows her affection for her new pet, and carries the duckling upstairs to her room, closing the door behind her. Daffy is then left alone with her dad. Daffy rushes upstairs and knocks on the door for help desperately, but Agnes doesn't come. Agnes's dad gets rid of Daffy as he promptly sends him flying through the roof and into a telephone pole, his bill sticking through it.
Physical Appearance[]
Agnes is a svelte, little girl with fair skin, black eyes, and a bob hairstyle with blunt bangs. She wears a sky blue hair bow with matching blouse with short, puffy sleeves; a short, suspender dress; short white socks; and black clogs.
Personality[]
Agnes is very affectionate, compassionate, and caring towards Daffy as she's willing to do anything for him, even going as far as being protective. She's also nice, sweet, friendly, and somewhat chatty as she is a motormouth.
