Aeolia is a character from the Ulysses 31 episode, "Guardian of the Cosmic Winds". She is the daughter of Aeolus, who is king of the winds. Aeolia's father captures Ulysses and his small crew to put them in dangerous games as entertainment for her birthday.

About Aeolia[]

It's Aeolia's birthday and her father, tells her he has something to show her. Outside the front window of their ship, the Odyssey is in front of it. He plans to capture the occupants inside it (Ulysses, Telemachus, Yumi, and Nono) and place them into their own ship to force them to play perilous games, possibly more for his entertainment than for hers, despite saying that's for her. But Aeolia wants nothing to do with it and refuses to look. As the Odyssey is under attack and Ulysses, and his shipmates are carried inside Aeolus's ship, Aeolia begs Aeolus to stop, saying he can't be beaten by them since he's much too powerful. But her mother says they can't stop now and one of the staff tells Aeolia the same as it would be an insult to the party guests. After Ulysses and the others are put in spherical cages and he reveals his name to Aeolus, Aeolus has an idea. He agrees to let him and the others go after he goes through a series of playing potentially deadly games first. After Aeolus has the crew dropped into another room, he agrees to let him and his comrades go back to Earth if they survive and Ulysses manages to free his son, and their friends. The first game involves Ulysses having to go through an entrance where a treasure chest is kept and he has to find it. Ulysses asks Aeolus if he really promises to let him and the others go, Aeolus says he has his word. Once again, Aeolia just can't bare to watch and finds this upsetting. After Ulysses manages to complete that task and make it out of there, Aeolia is surprised he actually made it. The second game is life-and-death chess and while Aeolus has Ulysses play that next, Aeolia sneaks off to search for Telemachus, Yumi, and Nono to set them free. She goes to a giant statue head of a creature and raises her hands to activate it. Its eyes glow and the doors in the mouth of it open, freeing the three. She shushes for them to be quiet and tells them to follow her. Telemachus asks her why she helped them, she tells them she wants to put a stop to her dad's cruel games. Nono says he likes her already for this deed. Her aero-shoes light up at the heels, having been activated, which also allow her to fly. She tells them she knows of a secret passageway as an alternate route to get to the treasure chest, but cautions they must be on guard, urging them to hurry as they follow her.

As they continue, Telemachus asks Aeolia if it's true what her dad said about the treasure chest being their means back to Earth. She says he's correct, but warns that it mustn't be opened as it contains a magic stone with powers of destruction. The third game has Ulysses being thrown and bounced around inside a giant pinball machine, which Aeolia and her new friends watch on a screen. She tells Telemachus there's only one thing he can do, but reminds him to be careful. As the fourth game begins, which involves Ulysses having to outrun giant, steel balls, Aeolia looks on with concern. Deciding she's had enough, she puts an end to it before anymore possible harm can be done. She takes away her dad's device used to activate the games and throws it aside. Some holes open up beneath Ulysses and he falls down into it. Aeolus is infuriated by his daughter's betrayal and as punishment, has her put in a spherical cage with Ulysses. An automatic, octagonal pit, which is below them, opens, and a giant, green cyclops with tentacles emerges as it reaches to grab them. Ulysses asks Aeolus if he really would even do this to his own daughter, but Aeolus just won't hear anymore of it. He opens the cage and Aeolia falls out of it, nearly down to the cyclops, but Ulysses manages to catch her in time. Aeolia pleads with her dad to spare her. Telemachus and the others get there in time and he opens up the chest. The rays of light from the magic stone are fired at the cyclops, destroying it before the pit closes. Telemachus and his friends confront Aeolus, telling him how he tried to kill his dad and Aeolus's own daughter. Aeolus orders the Four Winds to go after them, but Telemachus has the magic stone shoot rays at them and they're destroyed as well. When Telemachus begins to use it on Aeolus next, Aeolia runs to prevent this, telling him not to harm her dad. As she gets into the rays path, she is hit and collapses, having sacrificed himself. It's at that point that Aeolus realizes what he's done and that he went too far. He regrets it, grieves over her, and cradles her. Weakened, she implores him not to do anymore harm and forgive. Aeolus has a change of heart, saying that he doesn't want to do this anymore as he would rather his daughter live. Finally, he lets Ulysses and everyone else go. Aeolia survives and as she and her parents watch the Odyssey leave, Aeolus tells her the treasure chest is empty and he agrees not to play any more games of cruelty as long as she agrees to be happy. Aeolia agrees and is very pleased with that.
